چکیده
The lead equivalent of X-ray protective barriers are given for both concrete and steel for potentials between 200 an d 1,400 kv . These were determined experimentally u sing a pressure ion ization chamber and an ' _ray tube to which constant potential was applied. Narrow X-ray beam were used. The data obtained are compared with t ho e published by other workers. Data on the relat ive masses referred to lead of both concrete and steel barriers are illcluded. The agreement among t he several laboratories is satisfactory when consideration is given to difference in the test specimens used and in t he experimental technic.

A Comparative Study of the Construction of Positron Emission Tomography/Computed Tomography Facilities in Three South African Hospitals
Introduction: Development of higher energy modalities such as positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT), has led to more complex shielding problems. This is due to several factors, such as the radiopharmaceutical relatively high-administered activity, high patient throughput, and high energies of 511 kilo-electron volt (keV) positron annihilation photon...

Background: Biological shielding of nuclear reactors has always been a great concern and decreasing the complexity and expense of these installations is of great interest. In this study, we used datolite and galena (DaGa) minerals for production of a high performance heavy concrete. Materials and Methods: Datolite and galena minerals which can be found in many parts of Iran were used i...
متن کاملProduction of an economic high-density concrete for shielding megavoltage radiotherapy rooms and nuclear reactors
Background: In megavoltage radiotherapy rooms, ordinary concrete is usually used due to its low construction costs, although higher density concrete are sometimes used, as well. The use of high-density concrete decreases the required thickness of the concrete barrier hence, its disadvantage is its high cost. In a nuclear reactor, neutron radiation is the most difficult to shield. A method for p...
متن کاملBroad-and Narrow-Beam Attenuation of 500- to 1,400- Kilovolt X-Rays in Lead and Concrete
There have been numerous papers over the past 10 years dealing with X-ray protection in the range from 500 to 2,000 kv [1 to 6]. The data from these papers differ somewhat, because the conditions of the experiments were not always the same and therefore cannot be readily correlated. Part of this has been attributed to differences in the high-voltage wave form and inherent filtration for the sev...
متن کاملSteel Plate Characteristic Effecting on Composite Coupled Beam at Concrete Shear Wall
Composite couple beams are the concrete elements consisting of longitudinal bars and steel plate, therefore suitable for shear transferring in couple shear walls with arranged gates in its height. In this paper, after modeling couple beams with and without steel plates with F.E methods and calibration the models with experimental results, effects of parameters such as thickness, height, length ...
